Design Internet Javascript
How to prevent the active content warning in IE when I create Javascript coding?

I'm new to web design and I run into a problem with the use of Javascript in Internet Explorer. The page wont load the menu (or something else) I have calculated, until I click that I want to allow active content to run. I dont have this problem with Firefox. I have been on many pages that use JavaScript without any warnings pop up and want to know what I should do differently.

Its difficult to give a direct answer to this question, but I am willing to take a guess that you have not downloaded files to a website yet and are just working on them locally. In this case, it will say do it locally .. but after uploading it to your site warnings tend to come up .. link: http://radio.javaranch.com/pascarello/2005/05/18/1116473896158.html has information on how to activate it .. good Uncheck box'es they say to check to disable it ..

JavaScript Developer's Dictionary covers all the essential functions, methods, and objects of JavaScript in an easy-to-find, logical order. JavaScript, and each different version of JavaScript, interacts very differently with each variety of Web browser, leaving Web developers scrambling to write code that will work in all the major browsers. JavaScript Developer's Dictionary brings all these variants into one volume, breaking down every object in the JavaScript language and how it applies to each browser. Wherever possible, the book also provides workarounds for earlier versions of JavaScript and for direct inconsistencies. The emphasis throughout this book is on compatibility across many versions of Netscape and Internet Explorer.

Designing With JavaScript Designing With JavaScript
$3.48

This isn't a hard-core programming book; it isn't geared toward someone who has a computer science degree from MIT and five years experience of programming in C++. This is the JavaScript book for the rest of us. Written by the author of the "JavaScript Tip of the Week" Web site, this book focuses on the most useful and applicable scripts for making truly interactive, engaging Web sites (and it doesn't proclaim to be the definitive all-knowing JavaScript guide). You'll not only have quick access to the scripts you need, you'll finally understand why the scripts work, how to alter the scripts to get the effects you want, and, ultimately, how to write your own groundbreaking scripts from scratch. Through his popular Web site, Nick Heinle has been showing Web designers and other nonprogrammers how to create the scripts they need. In fact, he wrote much of the JavaScript used on the Web today. This book is the culmination of his work. His explanations are clear, detailed, and accessible; everything -- every script, every concept, every line -- is explained so that "the rest of us" will understand. Designing with JavaScript covers many of the powerful capabilities that JavaScript is given with Dynamic HTML, in a few chapters covering important aspects of implementing Microsoft Internet Explorer 4.0 as well as Netscape Navgigator 4.0. You'll learn how to create pages on the fly, how to identify users' browsers, how to create "rollover" effects with sound, graphics, and animation, and more. It also features a CD-ROM and Web site that provide fast access to some of the author's most useful functions and scripts, making it easy to find the code you need and to build your own custom scripts.

</p><p>JavaScript is a scripting language that enables you to enhance static web applications by providing dynamic, personalized, and interactive content. This improves the experience of visitors to your site and makes it more likely that they will visit again. You must have seen the flashy drop-down menus, moving text, and changing content that are now widespread on web sites—they are enabled through JavaScript. Supported by all the major browsers, JavaScript is the language of choice on the Web. It can even be used outside web applications—to automate administrative tasks, for example.<p>This book aims to teach you all you need to know to start experimenting with JavaScript: what it is, how it works, and what you can do with it. Starting from the basic syntax, you'll move on to learn how to create powerful web applications. Don't worry if you've never programmed before—this book will teach you all you need to know, step by step. You'll find that JavaScript can be a great introduction to the world of programming: with the knowledge and understanding that you'll gain from this book, you'll be able to move on to learn newer and more advanced technologies in the world of computing.<p>In order to get the most out of this book, you'll need to have an understanding of HTML and how to create a static web page. You don't need to have any programming experience.<p>This book will also suit you if you have some programming experience already, and would like to turn your hand to web programming. You will know a fair amount about computing concepts, but maybe not as much about web technologies.<p>Alternatively, you may have a design background and know relatively little about the Web and computing concepts. For you, JavaScript will be a cheap and relatively easy introduction to the world of programming and web application development.<p>Whoever you are, we hope that this book lives up to your expectations.&@*úáG®{ÿ¾Úx

DIVFrom the bestselling author of Java in a Nutshell comes the definitive guide for JavaScript, the HTML extension that allows programs to be embedded in Web pages, making them more active than ever before. In this book, Flanagan describes how JavaScript really works (and when it doesn't). Includes a complete reference section that documents every object, property, method, event handler, function, and constructor used by the client-side JavaScript./divDIVJavaScript is a simple programming language from Netscape that can be embedded in your HTML Web pages. It allows you to control the behavior of the Web browser, add dynamically created text to your Web pages, interact with the user through HTML forms (without CGI scripts), and, in version 3.0 of Netscape Navigator, even control and interact with Java applets and Navigator plugins.pJavaScript is not an alternative to Java, but an ideal partner. The two languages have separate but very complementary features. Since JavaScript is a simple language that can be embedded directly into a Web page, without need for compilation, it is accessible to more Web page authors, and may actually have a larger short-term impact on the Web and on Internet computing than Java itself.pThis book is a definitive guide for JavaScript. The first eight chapters document the core JavaScript language, and the next six describe how JavaScript works on the client-side to interact with the Web browser and with the Web page. These chapters are followed by acomplete reference section that documents every object, property, method, event handler, function, and constructor used by client-side JavaScript. In a separate reference section, you will find the interaction between JavaScript and HTML documented -- mainly aspects of HTML that relate to JavaScript. A forthcoming edition of this book will cover the use of JavaScript on Web servers, as well as the object, properties, and methods of server-side JavaScript.pThis book documents the @!.záG®ÿ¾Úx
